December 2009 Newsletter
[firstname,fallback=Good Morning],
As you will notice, both of our "Continual Thanks" animals are repeats. At one time the Most Popular animal was the Most Endangered animal and vice-versa. But isn't that what life is like sometimes?
This time of year is an example of "repeats." We pull out the same ornaments and decorations for the holidays. We shop at the same stores. We make the same holiday treats. It's all about tradition. These activities and items might be "repeats," but they usually put smiles on our faces.
We all need to be aware of repeating the same things with the intention of getting different results. If you like your life the way things are, keep repeating what you've always done. If you want change in the new year, consider making a change in activities and items – so you won't get what you've always gotten.
Use it or Lose It
This was the title of our October newsletter, but the phrase has a more immediate meaning today. For those of you that have training dollars that you are going to lose at the end of this calendar year, please consider using them on products and services offered by Training-Modules.com, LLC.
One of our clients just took advantage of this opportunity and purchased the Team: Roles and Responsibilities Module.
We'd love to have your business. Don't lose it, use it!
Otto's Toot
Continuing from our last newsletter...
After collecting all the data and research that you feel is necessary and organizing it into "chunks," you then print the various module files that you created. Now, the work begins. You need to read each one. But here's the clincher...when you do this, you need to ensure that you have the necessary time available to read through all the files in a designated timeframe.
Why? Because...
- Some of the material may overlap from one file to the next. If this is the case, you will need to determine whether that material should be combined and taught together. Or which file is more appropriate for the content. Or whether one file is better to teach the content in depth and the other file is better to cover the content as a prelude, reminder, or summary. Or whether a completely new file needs to be created for just that content.
- Some of the material may naturally flow from one file to the next, which will indicate the sequence of the modules.
- Some of the material may not be lengthy or detailed, which will require you to determine what additional file you could add to that content without losing the integrity of the original content.
- The actual content within the files needs to be placed in a logical order. Remember, this is just the first "review" and it is not meant to be perfect. You will find that you've collected a ton of material and it will take a while to get an organized flow. One review will not be enough.
- The material in the miscellaneous file needs to be distributed to the appropriate files. To do this, place a notation in the margin indicating the new file, page, and paragraph. When you've completely reviewed the miscellaneous file, cut and paste the content where noted in the margin.
You may find that there is quite a bit of really good information that didn't seem to "fit" the other files or modules, yet is too important to just delete. So, consider creating a module that encompasses a conglomerate of all the extra material and be creative with the name. This module would then contain important information, but may not be as critical as some of the other modules created.
