June 2008 Newsletter

Good Morning,

Summer is off and running…or is it I, who is running?  I love the warm weather!  I can leave my windows open, listen to the outside “noise,” and smell the fragrances of the outdoors.  I hope you are enjoying this time of year and the special opportunities it brings you.

Don’t forget, for the month June, we are offering the Giving and Receiving Feedback module at a 20% discount.  Act now and buy this module for only $4,000*.  This half-day module is full of strong content and activities that appeal to the adult learner.

Speaking of modules, I’ve just added a new module to my website.  I’ve partnered with another consultant, Lauri Williams, to design the Six Steps Six Figure Job Search Facilitator and Participant Guides with their adjunct materials.  I’m sure Lauri would love to facilitate the module for you and your organization, if you want the expert!

We’ve added a few more articles to our website.

Deborah Thomas, owner of SillyMonkey, is a partner in my new venture, Affiliate Marketing. Deborah Thomas is an expert in developing powerful game-based serious play learning design.  (Yes, that’s a mouthful…or should I say mindful!) This methodology provides a process of immersion whereby a person’s attention is fully engaged in the activity (to the point of losing track of time), and which results in learning. This process delivers ideas to players in a manner that is engaging and fun; yet prepares the learner for the emotional states and sensory inputs that could impact “real-world” performance. It puts the learner in the role of decision-maker, and provides an environment to simulate complex human interactions. SillyMonkey motto: Learn fast, remember more and have fun doing it!

I’ve chosen a theme for my blog for the months of June and July.  The theme is meetings.  Why? Because there are many steps to consider when running effective meetings and I don’t want you to have to search through a year’s worth of blogs to determine all the steps. I will also continue to “pepper” the blog with my usual reflections.  So, some of you might want to ignore my reflections to glean insight into meetings, while others of you can ignore the “work” stuff and read my insights.

Don’t forget to take advantage of our eWorkbooks and AudioCasts!

Remember, the NASAGA conference (the North American Simulation and Gaming Association) is October 15-18 in Indianapolis, IN.  Go to www.nasaga.org.  The theme this year is the Pit Stop for GAS (Games, Activities, and Simulations) – don’t you love it!

Connect with me through LinkedIn, Plaxo, Facebook, Namyz, etc. if you have even more time.

Don’t forget to use your sunscreen and drink plenty of water.

May you sizzle with excitement through the summer season,

Creating fun, customized training for organizations!

My Intention...

To provide eWorkbooks and AudioCasts for individual contributors as well as Instructor and Participant Guides (which emphasize performance outcomes using highly interactive simulations, games, and activities) for organizations whose employees deliver the training. To make this happen, I intend to:

  1. Implement Coaching AudioCasts – being recorded, reviewed, and uploaded to our website
  2. Retain an excellent relationship with current perfect clients – ongoing
  3. Participate in social networking and blogging – ongoing
  4. Provide the Designing Training eWorkbook on the web site – final review
  5. Complete the Stage of Team Development eWorkbook – in development
  6. Make available the Six Steps Six Figure Job Search module (Instructor/Facilitator Guide, Participant Guide, and adjunct materials) - completed
  7. Offer affiliate marketing opportunities to consultants and organizations who want to help promote my products and services - ongoing

* Giving and Receiving Feedback: In other words, for $4,000, if you have 150 participants, it would cost $27 per participant. You can do your own calculations to determine the actual price per participant for your needs: 250 participants = $16 each; 500 participants = $8 each. This investment includes the Instructor/Facilitator Guide and Participant Guide, as well as handouts, self-assessments, job aids, wallet cards, and scenarios. The documents are provided in Word so that you may customize them to meet your needs. Once you purchase the material, it is yours to use as you wish throughout your organization, as many times as needed, by as many trainers as necessary.
