October 2008 Newsletter

Good Morning,

It’s almost Halloween – my favorite holiday!  Perhaps it’s the idea that you can be whoever you want to be on that day…and perhaps it’s because many of us “come out” as ourselves!!  Regardless, enjoy the day!

NASAGAI just returned from getting GAS (Games, Activities, and Simulations) at the Pit Stop, which was the theme from my favorite conference – the North American Simulation and Gaming Association (NASAGA) in Indianapolis, IN.  It was great to connect with like-minded people as well as get some great ideas for activities to enhance the training I design!  We’re meeting in Washington, DC in October next year.  Consider joining us!

If you read my blog, you know that I commented about a hurricane’s power to use water and wind.  So, consider this:  Most of us typically like wind and rain in small measures; however, when “overused,” these elements become a negative.  This reminded me of the QuikDiSC and More session I recently did for the American Farm Bureau Federation, where I asked, “What strength do you possess that when overused becomes a weakness?”  Or in nature’s case, what strength overused is destructive!

Susan’s Picks are now featuring:

  • Affiliate Marketing Partner, Lauri Williams.  Lauri and I recently collaborated on her Six Steps Six Figure Job Search module.
  • Recommended Affiliate Products of Dave Piltz with The Learning Key, which designs and delivers experiential learning services for global clients as well as create Play for Performance® learning tools and simulations. Check out the four games highlighted on my website for examples of just a few of the tools they provide.
  • Book Review on Kevin Eikenberry’s Remarkable Leadership:  Unleashing Your Leadership Potential One Skill at a Time. It is written for leaders who want to continue to improve, continue to advance, and continue to make a greater contribution as a leader.
  • Miscellaneous Providers, Sangeeta Nayak.  Sangeeta is a voice actor who made the AudioCasts “come alive.”  She also proofs the eWorkbooks and actually applies the concepts on the job – now isn’t that a phenomena.  Consider applying these concepts yourself.

We’ve added a few more articles to our website.

One of my favorite non-profits, Impact 100, just gave away $222,000 to two grant recipients:

  • the FreeStore/Foodbank for their Power Pack program that provides food on weekends and holidays for low-income children who might go without.
  • IKRON (Integration of Knowledge and Resources for Occupational Needs), which trains its “clients” to be self-reliant so they have less need for public assistance programs.

Perhaps you will want to support Impact 100 for 2009 by contributing by December 31, 2008.  You don’t have long to be part of this life-changing organization for 2009!

Don’t forget to take advantage of our eWorkbooks, AudioCasts, and Training Kits! I’m still interested in connecting with you through LinkedIn, Plaxo, Facebook, and Namyz.

Beware of any Halloween tricks, and treat yourself…great,
